Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Season 1 and 2 are both available
Disney is hard at work adapting Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson books to the small screen over at Disney+, but as of last week, the first two seasons of the show are available on Netflix! Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) finds out he's the son of the Greek god Poseidon, goes to camp, meets other demigods, and chases his destiny.
The show is a great mix of light action, adventure, and comedy, especially good for families. If you're interested in more, the third season is coming to Disney+ on November 20.

Wayne
Watch this forgotten, underrated action-comedy
Credit: YouTube Premium
Back when YouTube was still trying to make original TV series, they turned out Wayne, a charming one-season show about a teenager (Mark McKenna) who sets out on a cross-country trip to get back his late father's stolen car. Joining him is Del (Ciara Bravo), a girl he has a crush on.
Wayne has action, violence, black humor, and a lot of heart. It was never given the attention it deserved, so hopefully more people will find it on Netflix.

Señora Acero
All five seasons are available to stream
Credit: Telemundo
Señora Acero is a five-season telenovela about Sara Aguilar (Blanca Soto), a young woman who seems to have everything she wants in life, until tragedy inspires her to become the most powerful drug trafficker in all of Mexico. Starting in the third season, the focus shifts to Vicenta "La Coyote" Rigores (Carolina Miranda), a young woman who joins the criminal underworld and fights for justice.
Expect lots of drama, violence, and betrayals, especially in the superior early seasons.
Solar Opposites Season 6
The biggest laughs on Hulu...on Netflix
Sci-fi comedies can be a hard nut to crack, but the Hulu show Solar Opposites has been managing for six seasons. Created by some of the same minds behind Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites is about a family of space aliens who find themselves stationed on Earth with little choice but to blend into the local population, with some of them enjoying the process more than others. The episodes are short, face-paced, and feature a good mix of standalone capers with serialized storytelling.

Love is Blind Season 11
Trashy reality content par excellence
By this point, Love Is Blind is a reality TV staple on Netflix. Several singles are isolated in "pods" where they must communicate only by talking, with no visual or tactile contact. Only after they've decided to get married do they get to see each other for the first time. Then the show follows them as they try dating and living together, to see if the initial connection holds up. On the wedding day, some couples go through with it, and some break it off at the altar.
Season 11 is set in Boston, with singles from the New England area. The trappings are a little different, but the formula is the same, and you already know if you like it.

Hollywood Arts
For Nickelodeon kids
In the 2010s, Nickelodeon aired a sitcom called Victorious, about a girl attending an elite high school for the performing arts. This sequel series brings original cast member Daniella Monet (Trina Vega) back to Hollywood Arts High School as a teacher, where she'll interact with a whole new group of students.
Victorious helped launch the career of Ariana Grande, and it's not impossible that she could show up at some point. Otherwise, Hollywood Arts should provide the same kind of age-appropriate laughs that Victorious did back in the day.
The Diplomat Season 4
The award-winning drama returns
The Diplomat is probably the highest-profile show on this list, a well-written political thriller revolving around Kate Wyler (Keri Russell), the U.S. ambassador to the UK. Or at least, that's what she was at the start of the series. Now she's a special envoy to Europe and the Second Lady of the United States, with her husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) as vice president. Under President Grace Penn (Allison Janney), they'll confront international crises and maybe just save the world.
The Diplomat has won Janney an Emmy for her performance, and the show itself has been nominated for Outstanding Drama Series multiple times. If you want a prestigious thriller, this is your ticket.

The classic cops-and-robbers drama
Heat, starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, comes to Netflix on October 16.
